How Random! The Final Cut

February 24, 2009

Whilst here in Eastbourne, I got bored earlier as all my friends have full time jobs and I was home alone. Therefore I decided to tweak up the video and get it up on the internet. I didn’t want to make it public until I was completely satisified with it. Therefore I ventured back into the realms of Premiere, included a soundtrack and tweaked the audio in places due to the video seeming unfinished.

Yet here we are then! Presenting to you all the final version of my viral video titled ‘How Random’. Lets this beauty up to 1,000 views if we can!

Sneaky Ol’ Thing!

February 13, 2009

So I was playing around with Adobe Flash last night and created the first draft animation of my shadow character. I set the animation that 24fps so it looks more fluid when up against the live footage. The GIF export embedded below isnt great, but hey ho it will look better in the final result.

I created the model and the movement in Flash, and then exported it as an AVI file, which I imported into After Effects. Here I did a color key on the white background and played with the tolerance to rid of all the white. Kinda silly of me really to then put this video on a white background :S

I also played about with the opacity, and eventually I want to create a sort of radial glow around him which I can color black, creating a casted shadow effect.

You Are What You Eat

January 15, 2009

Ok well here you have it, the final version of my flash project.

The objective was to think up a saying/quote and then base a video, preferablly made in Adobe Flash, around the chosen saying/quote.

As you can see from the title, my video is themed around the term ‘You Are What You Eat’. For this video I wanted to visually interpret the saying with good humour. Therefore whatever the characters take a bite of, they almost instantly morph into that specific piece of food.

I am very satisfied with the final result, but of course the only flaw in the video is there is no speech. This is due to the fact my microphone decided to die on me, so I had to recover this issue visually with a comic book styled dialogue. The soundtrack gives the video its comical vibe which is satisfying to see. Now that this is out the way, I can focus on Short Form and touching up Maya!

Hows This For A Saying?

December 3, 2008

After a long and hard thought about what saying I am going to base my Flash project on, I have finally thought of one which I believe is a strong choice.

I am going to go for ‘You Are What You Eat’, which of course means that however a person chooses to eat, their bodies will react to that sort of intake, leading to either a healthy or unhealthy lifestyle. As far as I know the saying is exteremely popular, so this will hopefully give it some recognition once uploaded to the web.

Speaking of its popularity, its just passed my mind that there was a television program which adopted the saying as it’s title. This also went on to spawn other products under the same name such as books and its own food brand.

The idea of the video is to play on the saying ‘You Are What You Eat’, so therefore I am going to have characters consuming food products, who then instantaniously morph into those products. I will draw up some diagrams and produce some storyboards as well, which I will post up here once completed.

Flash! Ahhhhh!

December 1, 2008

Now that the class has had a couple of tutorial sessions with using Adobe Flash, we have all been set another assignment.

Basically we need to create a flash animation approx. one minute, themed on a quote or saying of our choice. The project sounds fun and I look forward to properly getting into animating. I have some previous animation experience with Flash, mainly lip syncing and motion tweening. Richards tutorials only covered these elements of the program, so I didn’t really learn anything new and exciting.

Once I have some more ideas I will post them up for you all, in the meantime lets get busy!
